# match_idn()

## match_idn(idn: str) → DriverMatch | None[source]

Match an `*IDN?` reply against every registered driver’s [`IdnPattern`](https://dev.nominal.io/instro/ref/library/instro.lib.registry.IdnPattern.md#instro.lib.registry.IdnPattern "instro.lib.registry.IdnPattern").

Returns the first match in registry order, or `None` when no in-tree driver claims the identity.
