# ChannelMetadata

## class nominal.ChannelMetadata

A channel’s units, description, and data type.

The catalog side of a channel. nominal.Channel is the streaming side,
where points are written.

```matlab
m = ds.channelMetadata("rpm");
m.Unit
```

```matlab
ds.setChannelMetadata("rpm", "double", Unit="1/min");
```

Metadata is per dataset. Setting a unit on “rpm” in one dataset does
not set it on “rpm” in another.
